This is a series of articles on how to customise work-papers. We will cover everything from changing a work item on a page to creating yourself a completely new set of templates. The plan is to start simple and work up, so we suggest you complete these in sequence as tutorials as each will build on the last.

Today we start very simply; how the masters page looks and what it means .

All customising must be done from the 'Workpaper Masters' tab accessible from the home page:

Initially all jobs will appear under the 'Audit Assistant' heading. These are the templates we at Audit Assistant update. The 'Masters' column shows how many pages are unique to the job type. The 'General' job type was the original and the others are variations from that. So for example 'Non-profit Entity' has only four pages that are different from 'General', but 'Review Engagement' has 40 unique pages. The 'Clients' column shows how many clients you have using that  job type as a basis. 'Updated' shows when we last made changes to the masters for say a new standard.

As you customise work-papers these will appear by job type under your firm name, so when you create a job you will have a choice of creating say an 'Audit Assistant - General' or a 'Demo and Associates Ltd - General' job.

These custom jobs will also include all the standard Audit Assistant template pages you haven't customised. Your Workpaper Masters page will have a section like this at the bottom:

What this means is that Demo & Associates have customised three 'General' pages 26 days ago and have two jobs that use those pages.

Note that once you customise a page it will no longer be updated by us - it will be up to you to ensure it is updated for any changes in Standards; however other pages in your custom template will still inherit from the standard Audit Assistant template upgrades.
