New Templates

new2.jpgWe have been working on a complete revision of the Audit templates. The first versions evolved as the old Auditing Standards were replaced by ISA (NZ)'s, but as these were added in a piecemeal fashion they did not represent a cohesive statement of the ISA (NZ)'s, nor were there work-steps for every requirement in the ISA (NZ)'s but just a general reference to them. So rather than a piecemeal revision we have completed what is essentially a re-write of our Audit templates which address and reference every "Requirement" within the ISA (NZ)'s. Hence the "Comprehensive" template.

This has also involved rethinking the sequence of the audit process to better reflect the Standards, so the position and linking of pages has changed in many cases. This has increased the amount of information within the workbook template, but we have compensated by breaking pages into more easily manageable sections and also used more sub-pages, so that areas that are not applicable may be simply covered by one comment rather than a lot of "N/A"'s.

At this stage we have a template called "ISA (NZ) Comprehensive" and another called ISA (NZ) Small Non-Group Entity (FRS).

ISA (NZ) Comprehensive includes all ISA's and should be used for large entities and groups. It includes our standard FRS/SSAP templates but for those of you who subscribe to our Brookers add-in you may swap out the W section "Review Financial Statement" pages for the Brookers version you require. This new "Comprehensive: template will effectively replaces our "General" and "Group" templates (although you will be able to stay with the old one for as long as you wish).

ISA (NZ) Small Non-Group Entity (FRS) is a "short-form" version which will be useful for most jobs, but is not comprehensive so requires the auditor to refer back to the standards if something more than a standard response is required. This template should meet the needs of many of our users who have asked for a "simple" template for small jobs. This is as simple as we can make it within the confines of the ISA's! Again it is possible for those of you subscribed to the Brookers templates to Audit Assistant to swap out the W section "Review Financial Statement" pages for the Brookers version you require.

The upgrade path for current clients will be to swap job type on a client level. The trial balance and lead schedule and systems notes will translate over, but as there are many changes at the work-item level there will be some additional setting up required. But this is entirely optional and you may leave jobs on the existing templates if you wish and only use the new one for new jobs.

To upgrade we suggest waiting until after rollover, then from the client view select 'edit' from the drop-down next to the client name. Switch job type to the new version then each page you view within the client may be upgraded as you open it - you will see what changes have been made.
