Q. Journals disappearing?

Upon saving a journal entry a client found it disappears, so there is no record of its having been prepared. This occurs regardless of who is posting it.

A. The account codes were in a very similar format to date formats. The underlying language has built-in validation so that if something looks like a date it will check whether it is a valid date. The account codes look like dates but invalid ones, so when an operation to use one of the codes is initiated it is rejected as invalid which we think is what is happening here. 

The best work-around is for those accounts which have journals to be posted to them you edit the account code to a different format.

This is an odd error which is very rare but now that we know what it about we will put on our list of items to fix.
