It was suggested that we add hyperlinks to these websites from the Related Parties work-papers. These have now been added.

We've created a new section where we've added in a number of suggestions for improvements to Audit Assistant.

The idea is that you can comment on these or add fresh suggestions and the most popular will get priority. You can see and comment on current suggestions or add your own here

'Cloud' computing continues to gain ground as the way that computing is moving.

This article in the NZ Herald describes the move as follows: "The lower-cost concept, where clients can save by installing less powerful computers and less memory, has grown in popularity during the economic downturn and also thanks to higher internet speeds."

As I've said before, there will likely come a time when your whole business will be run without an internal network, without your own servers, just with a wireless router connecting everyone to the internet via low-cost net-book type computers (or iPads with bluetooth keyboards?)

Clive McKegg Jul 09 Custom Work-papers Tutorials

In order to more efficiently create and update custom work-papers, we have added a feature which compares two work-papers and allows you to bring in steps (including sub-pages).

This can be from one of our masters (say we update a page and you wish to add a step or new sub-page we've created to your custom page); or from a different AA master page to create a hybrid page which includes a combination of work items and sub-pages.

Now if you open one of your custom master pages you will see the following:

Selecting 'Import New Items' show existing items on the page plus a preview of the other items which are available. For example:

import_new_items_box_2_.png

To bring the item in to the current page, select save. To leave the item out, cancel. If the item has an attached sub-page, this will also be brought over, and may be opened and customised as normal. Once the item is imported it may be edited and moved as normal.

The 'Import New Items' notification only appears on pages which have the same name or source, but items from other pages may be combined using the same technique.

To import from an unrelated AA master page first go to that page and look in the address bar to find its page ID, for example:http://demo.auditassistant.com/job_types/1/masters/61 - the master page ID is 61.

Then go to the custom master page you wish to import into, and in the address bar add '?compare=61' as follows: http://demo.auditassistant.com/job_types/90/masters/705?compare=61

'Import New items' will then include all the new items from the new page and may be imported into your custom work-paper template as above.

There are now two 'Key Issues' pages; one in 'E' planning section on the 'Audit Plan' page and one in the 'Z' section as a sub-page of the 'Audit Report' page.

Any Key issues created during the planning phase automatically accumulate on the 'Audit Plan' page to prompt you when planning nature, timing and extent of testing.

Any Key Issues you create post-planning (in the F-Z sections) are accumulated on the final 'Key Issues' page, so that the reviewer or partner signing off can see at one glance the main points of the audit work.

Remember too that using the 'Select target workpaper' drop-down allows you to also send this Key Issue to the top of any other page in the workbook as a prompt.

On the 'Key Issues' page these items are then listed with a comments box for further work or to indicate what the treatment has been:
