V26 and subsequent platform releases introduce a large range of keyboard shortcuts to help the user navigate without having to mouse-click through so many levels.
Search box (crtl+k)
The basic search box is accessed from ctrl+K. This opens the following box (shown in high-contrast mode for clarity):
This box works in several levels.
The Quick links may be accessed by using the arrow keys to scroll down then select enter to open.
Alternatively, the shortcuts (ctrl+1 etc) go direct to the referenced pages. Note that this will also work without opening ctrl+k. Just click ctrl+1 from anywhere in the workbook to go to the TB page, ctrl+4 to go to the Adjustments summary page in the W section, etc. This replaces the old mouse-accessed shortcut at the top-right in the classic version.
- ctrl+1 = Trial balance
- ctrl+2 = Risk identification
- ctrl+3 = Management Report
- ctrl+4 = Adjustments
- ctrl+5 = Risk Responses (summary page)
In addition, if you know the page reference you wish to access, just type it in the search bar and press enter to there. Alternatively, search by page name, typing in the first three or more letters. This may be filtered to just show documents, tables, attachments or workpapers. Use the arrow key or ctrl+number to access the right page:
Annotation Shortcuts
Using the right mouse click opens the annotation dialog on most work items like this:
However, a user may go directly to a specific annotation without the right click by selecting alt+ctrl+ the first letter of the annotation as follows:
- alt+ctrl+c = comment
- alt+ctrl+a = attachment
- alt+ctrl+j = journal (audit adjustment)
- alt+ctrl+m = management point
- alt+ctrl+d = disclosure adjustment
- alt+ctrl+p = point forward
- alt+ctrl+i = key issue
- alt+ctrl+r = request
- alt+ctrl+f = follow up
- alt+ctrl+n = review note
Step completion shortcuts
These keyboard shortcuts assist with completing pages faster without using the mouse (don't forget to read the steps!)
If completing a page with yes/no responses select the first step then select either Y for yes or N for no. The step will complete and move the user to the next incomplete box.
Where a No response has a "please explain" box this will open when N (or Y is applicable) is selected.
For pages that have compliance responses C will mark them as compliance confirmed. For items that have comment or attachment prompts C or A will select the desired response. X will select n/a:
On a partly completed page the right and left arrows will move to the next or previous incomplete item.
To close a comment box, use ctrl+enter (previously just enter).
Sidebar shortcuts
Similarly, shortcuts may be used to change the sidebar view.
- alt+c opens the Contacts area
- alt+enter opens the job summary page
alt+ctrl+s hides or shows the sidebar
